My Outwell Casagrande 4 person tent
Three weeks ago, I woke up on a Sunday morning and decided I was going to buy a tent so that I could go and visit my sister and family.
I fell in love with the Outwell Casagrande. It is built around a vis-à-vis layout, with separate bedrooms at each end and a central living area that genuinely feels usable rather than just “extra space”.
It works particularly well for families or two couples, giving a bit more privacy while still keeping everyone connected in the middle. The large window and full standing height make the living space feel open and practical, whether you’re eating, relaxing, or just waiting out the weather. The overall design is geared towards comfortable day-to-day camping. You’ve got easy access, a bright interior, and enough room to move around without feeling cramped. It’s the kind of layout that quickly feels organised, rather than cluttered, especially on longer stays.
My only criticism was when I opened the door after it had rained. I forgot to make sure the rainwater didn’t runoff inside the tent. Cake and eat it springs to mind; you can’t have full height doorway without the top being about twelve inches within the tent.
I was very impressed at the simplicity of erecting my tent. I gave it a test-drive in the garden, refusing all my neighbours kind offers of help. I was determined to be able to erect and disassemble my tent single-handedly to give me independence.
That first time, having watched an instruction video on YouTube several times I struggled with physical effort of raising the tent but following one more viewing of the video, the tent complied with my wishes and suddenly I had a four person tent covering most of my lawn. Note to self; allow more than 5 metres for length and 2.5 metres width to allow for guy ropes! Rooky mistake – small modern garden. My second attempt was as Construction Manager. My brother, sister and brother-in-law were fairly eager helpers laying out the base, threading the poles thenn simply erecting it by bending the poles.
When my ten day holiday was over, I disassembled my tent alone without any problems. I am in love with my tent and can’t wait for the next opportunity to spend a few nights in it again.
